Nico Williams and FC Barcelona have reached a full agreement on personal terms, with the Spanish winger set to sign a six-year deal until June 2031, sources have confirmed.
The 21-year-old has agreed to a net salary in the region of €7–8 million per season, reflecting Barça’s strong commitment to securing one of Spain’s brightest young stars.
Despite interest from top European clubs—including Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Arsenal—Nico Williams has made it clear he only wants to join Barcelona. The winger has reportedly turned down other offers, showing his desire to work under Hansi Flick and be part of Barça’s long-term project.
While personal terms are already locked in, Barcelona are now negotiating the financial mechanics of the transfer with Athletic Club, who are holding firm on Nico’s €58 million release clause.
Given the club’s well-known registration and salary cap challenges, Barça are exploring ways to activate the clause without breaching financial fair play regulations.
Although the agreement marks a huge step forward, Barcelona’s ability to register Nico Williams depends heavily on upcoming player sales and wage adjustments. As of now, La Liga has yet to greenlight several new contracts and signings due to the club’s ongoing financial constraints.
If all goes according to plan, Nico Williams could be unveiled in time for Barcelona’s pre-season under Hansi Flick. The new manager sees the Spain international as a key piece in his tactical plans for the upcoming campaign.
